Four astrological cognitive maps.
From sidereal radix to relocation chart, assessing key focal patterns in evolving events.
With transits, solar return, solar arc directions, and annual tajaka vargas.
7-28 April 2018
Following the recent study dealing with assessment of an existential turning point at age 67.8y, we explore evolving characteristics and changes in a series of four cognitive maps, presented below.
Consistent with the referenced study, the charts in this series are sidereal.
The sidereal schema generally proves more effective, more conducive to discovery, analysis, and wayfinding in a developmental gestalt of continuously changing transpersonal principals, egoic function, and ordinating immanence. It provides a syntonic structure, robust and full of possibility, enabling us to identify, frame and test ideation in context of an ethos, an organizing principle fostering communication, harmony, and creative expression.
We find what we are, have been, and will be. We become.
Radix & Relocation Charts
This series includes both the radix (birth, natal) and the relocation chart. The radix is traditionally taken as the starting point, the map most fundamental in chart analysis, erected for the place of birth. While the radix serves as predicate in work with the relocation chart, which is erected for the same date and time of birth (Universal Time) at, in this case, the locus of long-term residence, we find the latter of superior utility in current introspective work, for intrapsychic assessments and framing. Age 67.95y, at this writing, more than 80% of my life has been lived in my city of residence, and while the move here wasn't the result of conscious planning, it certainly seems apposite in retrospect. Perhaps the relocation was a matter of fate
, but, from my perspective, the astrological implications are clearly consistent with and help us elucidate our storyline of ethos and development. Differences between the radix and relocation charts are often not extensive; most planets are not significantly affected. But the angles are: the Ascendant (AC) and Midheaven (MC), as well as derivative points and positions, may vary by several degrees. This is one of the tests we apply in evaluating identity development and evolution in self-concept. As may be seen in the charts below, the AC moves from 11°Cn25
3) in the radix, to 26°Cn27
3), about three minutes from exact conjunction with Pluto in the relocation chart. The MC moves from 21°Pi39 (Revati
2) in the radix, to 14°Ar10 (Bharani
1) in relocated. These shifts are readily interpreted as evolutions, the radical as predicate, inhering in the relocational.
While such AC and MC shifts also present in the tropical radix and relocation, they strike less of a chord; the deeper significance is better apprehended in the sidereal. We use whole signs (each sign or rasi
is a house) when working sidereal, with the result that AC and MC do not determine the house cusp, though other several other systems can be used without resulting in the cognitive dissonance we inevitably encounter when working tropical, where disfuncts and dysjuncts with respect to houses and placements are problems to work around.

7-8 April Natal Chart, Solar Arc Return,
with vargas D-1, D-9, D-10, D-20, D-24, and D-27
The series begins with recognition of a kite formation, with
Nashira (γ Cap) proximal Sadalsuud (β Aqr) [H8];
Zulu (1922) [H10] and Chiron R [H6]; and
⁍ kite focus:
dwarf planet Haumea [H2].
Houses 2, 6, 8, and 10
And a grand square (illustrated in 1:1 and 1:2), from
axis 1: Nashira-to-Haumea and
axis 2: [H11] to Agena (β Cen)|Unukalhai (α Ser). [H5]
Houses 2, 5, 8, and 11.
Orius (330836) and Nashira (γ Cap) in the next three charts.
7-10 April Natal Chart and Solar Return 2018/2019
Another kite formation presents in the second chart, with
Altair (α Aql)|DC [H7];
Orius (330836) [H9] and Yed Prior (δ Oph) [H5]; and
⁍ kite focus:
Ascendant [AC]|Yama Ghantaka [H1].
Houses 1, 5, 7, and 9.
We also find a YOD ('boomerang') kite, with
AC (proximal Karyasiddhi Sahama, Yama Ghantaka, and Bhava Lagna)
These go to 'what will be achieved'.[H1];
Karma (3811)| [H12] and Megrez (δ UMa) [H2]; and
⁍ YOD kite focus:
Altair|DC (Shravana, Moon, Vishnu/Saraswati) [H7].
Houses 1, 2, 7, 12.

In the third chart we identify a quadriform (aka arrowhead; Thor's Hammer), the redbrown triangular formation at center. Projecting a line from the apex of this triangle through
the midpoint of its base points to a region in H3, indicated by the 'foot' above |Narcissus R (37117), so we treat of this configuration as a quadriform kite, and read that point as
|Narcissus (37117) [H3], 45° from the
Megrez [H2] and Yed Prior [H5], which are 90° from each other and
135° from the
⁍ quad kite focus:
Vesta [H9] (proximal Planet 9 see in fourth chart).
Houses 2, 3, 5, 9.
This is a very important configuration emphasized, all the more now, by the Narcissus transit, conjunct Vesta [Gk. Hestia] representing the center of the gestalt, whole self (plurality), self-sense and transpersonal connectivity in Revati (Mercury, Pushan the Nurturer, going to moksha) [H9].
20-22 April Key transits; transformative configurations engaged by Mars, Saturn, Pluto
The fourth map explores transits of current and longer-term interest in the relocation chart.
Now, in early Capricorn...
Uttara Ashadha, Ten Vishvedevas, Sun, moksha - solar principle reaches zenith here, started at Krittika, see below
TR (and soon, TR) engages a kite formation of major importance, with

of the core kite formation (not illustrated here but) found in both radix and relocation,

but in the latter chart,

TR in [H6] engages Rahu [H9] and Ketu [H3] in Tsquare for most of 2018, in direct ⇄ retrograde activity.
This is of major significance, and the work-through axis is indicated in the chart.
